Shavasana - Corpse Pose
This is a rest or relaxation pose used at the beginning of the end of a yoga practice.
Basic instructions
Lie on your back, with your legs straight and relaxed, feet mat-width apart, toes relaxed and dropped outwards. Arms are apart at a 40-degree angle from your body, with palms facing upward.Hands and fingers are relaxed. Eyes are closed. Your entire body is completely relaxed and heavy on the floor. The mind is focused on breathing.
When to do
- For initial and final relaxation
- After breathing exercises
- After Sun Salutation
- In between or after supine asanas
